Kabataan Party-list Rep. Raoul Manuel chided Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa for insinuating that House of Representatives members want to “gang up” on him in the chamber’s ongoing probe on thw Duterte drug war killings.

Ang sagot: Iyong senador na ayaw sumipot at nagpapalusot,” Manuel said, referring to Dela Rosa.

(I also have a question: Who is the former PNP chief who signed the memorandum circular that became the basis for the bloody and anti-poor war on drugs? The answer: it’s the senator who doesn’t want to appear and is making excuses.)

Manuel was the one who filed House Resolution (HR) No.14, which sought a review of the cases of slain victims of the war on drugs and all related atrocities. These killings have been described as extrajudicial killings or EJKs.

The House Committee on Human Rights, which had been conducting the inquiry, had earlier invited former president Rodrigo Duterte and his one-time PNP chief Dela Rosa to attend a future hearing.

But Dela Rosa had apparently said he will not go to such hearing.

(He’s wasting his position as a lawyer if he thinks that the House’s purpose of inviting him to the hearings as a resource person is to “gang up” on him. Does he have that same mindset when he invites a resource person to the Senate?)

(Being a senator is not a cloak to be used in escaping responsibility in answering questions about the program that he led with former president Rodrigo Duterte.)

Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque earlier said that Duterte won’t be attending the inquiry.
